Welcome to my fundraising page. I’m part of a team at the University of Durham raising money for Hope for Children by trekking to Everest Base Camp in September 2019 and as you can see, I’ve set myself an ambitious fundraising target!
Hope for Children is a small charity working in 9 countries across the world to help support children who have slipped through the net. The impact that this charity has on the families and children that it helps a is invaluable. By improving children and families' access to education and healthcare Hope for Children empowers them to achieve their goals and create a stable economic future. I am so privileged to have been born into a secure and loving family, with parents who were able to work throughout my childhood so that I could stay in school, get the education I deserved and have opportunities I could only have dreamt of. I am well aware, however, that this is purely down to luck, and I could just as easily have been born into a very different world. A world where I was orphaned, forced to forgo school to work and earn money, because of my gender or to look after younger siblings. This is the reality faced by many children around the world. I'm sure that a lot of the wonderful people I know can relate to this and also the sentiment of wanting to leave the world a better place than you found it. The good news is that now is your chance, any donation big or small will change the lives and futures of vulnerable children and families. I know from first hand experience that when given a chance and a good start in life, there really is no limit to what you can achieve and I firmly believe that every child should have that opportunity. The things that these children could go on to create, invent or cure could change or save so many lives, so giving them the tools they need to follow their dreams is so important.
